Having a bad hair day…

Friday, August 27th, 2010

I don’t know if it was all the cold and windy weather in Sydney that inspired this piece but it was hard to keep my hair looking good once I stepped out of doors this week…

Available as cards and prints from Mulberry Muse and Cafe Baudelaire

It will also be released as a Christmas version, coming soon as part of the Mulberry Muse 2010 Christmas collection.

Keep Calm Carry on and Drink Tea

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

A good cup of English tea brings life’s troubles into perspective, or so it is said!

“There is no trouble so great or grave
that cannot be much diminished
by a nice cup of tea.”

Mother’s Day

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Sometimes I take my Mother too much for granted and only when I became a parent did I understand just how much my Mother cares for and cherishes her children.

I am also beginning to realise all too late how precious a relationship with a Grandmother can be.

I loved to visit my Grandmother and share afternoon tea with her. She would always use the best china tea set and that pretty tea set has stayed in my memory forever.

My Mother shared with me how much that meant to her and that she still has one of those special teacups that belonged to my Grandmother.

The tea set was a wedding present given to my Grandmother, she was a ladies maid, by her employer.

Make your Mother a “Queen” for a day!

Tomorrow, Saturday 20th March is World Macaron day, Yum!!!!

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Saturday (20th March) is World Macaron Day! In celebration of the wonderful French Macaron.
At the Versailles Court in Paris, members of the Dalloyau family, whose descendants later founded the gastronomy house of the same name, served macarons to royalty.
The delicious macaron filled with cream that is so popular today was invented by the French pâtisserie Ladurée.

Lace Chemise and Petticoat Tales

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

“A chemise, shift, or smock was usually sewn at home, by the women of a household. It was assembled from rectangles and triangles cut from one piece of cloth so as to leave no waste. The poor would wear skimpy chemises pieced from a narrow piece of rough cloth; the rich might have voluminous chemises pieced from thin, smooth fine linen.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemise

Today the term chemise often refers to women’s fashions that vaguely resemble a shift, or under garment, but are usually more delicate and provocative.
